The aesthetics of the city of Athens, and Diogenes’ tub
This morning at 4:30 or so, riot police, municipal police and prosecutor, broke in Syntagma Square. Tents, tables, banners, and people were "cleaned up" from the Square. The first banner that was ripped off was the one that read "Direct Democracy Now!" The mayor of Athens said that the situation in Syntagma Square affects the aesthetics and hygiene of the city of the Athenians, and is a deterrent to tourism.
